Power cuts in Cyprus: what to know

The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) publishes two lists for each district: faults that are being repaired right now, and planned interruptions for maintenance work on the network. This page gathers both for all five districts.

For each cut you see the town or village, the area and the start time. Planned work is usually announced a few days ahead.

Who do I call when the power goes out?

Call the EAC fault line on 1800, at any hour. Before you call, check your own fuse board and whether your neighbours have power, so you can tell them if the problem is only in your home.

Where does this information come from?

From the "Faults and scheduled interruptions" page of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus. Cyprus Atlas reads it about every 20 minutes for all five districts.

Why does the EAC plan power cuts?

For maintenance, upgrades and new connections on the distribution network. The supply has to be switched off in the affected streets so crews can work safely.

What should I do during a power cut?

Switch off sensitive appliances such as computers and televisions, keep the fridge and freezer closed, and leave one light on so you know when the supply is back.
