How pharmacy duty works in Cyprus

Pharmacies in Cyprus take turns to stay on duty, so every district always has a pharmacy available outside normal opening hours. The rota covers Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos and the free Famagusta district (Paralimni, Ayia Napa and nearby villages).

What is a pharmacy on duty?
Every day a small number of pharmacies in each district stay available outside normal opening hours: in the evening, overnight, on Sundays and on public holidays. They take turns according to an official rota.
How do I find a pharmacy open now in Cyprus?
Choose your district at the top of this page (Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos or Famagusta). The list shows the pharmacies on duty today with their address, directions and phone number.
Should I call before I go?
Yes. A pharmacist on duty may be on call rather than behind the counter late at night, and the rota can change at short notice. Each pharmacy has a call button, and some list a second after-hours number.
Where does this information come from?
From the official rota published by the Pharmaceutical Services of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cyprus. Cyprus Atlas shows it day by day so it is easier to read on a phone.
What should I do in an emergency?
For a medical emergency call 112 or 199 for an ambulance, or go to the nearest hospital Accident and Emergency department. A pharmacy on duty is for medicines and advice, not emergency care.
