About this category

Sculptors create three-dimensional works in materials such as stone, marble, bronze, wood, clay, metal, plaster or mixed media, producing pieces for public spaces, private commissions, exhibitions, memorials or decorative use. When approaching a sculptor, it helps to discuss the intended setting, size, material, theme and budget range, and to ask about the design and approval process, production timeline, installation, transport and long-term care. Portfolios show previous work and typical scale. For outdoor or public projects, confirm any permits, structural considerations and maintenance requirements with the sculptor and the relevant authorities.
